The US Women's National soccer team said goodbye to two legends of the game in Megan Rapinoe and Julie Ertz this past week. We celebrated Julie Ertz's during the USA vs. South Africa friendly on Sep 21 which had the USA on top 3-0 (recap here). In Ertz's words - "It's not because mama can't play. Mama can play." Megan Rapinoe's sendoff match was also against South Africa but this time on Sept 24 (recap here) with a 2-0 win. Rapinoe shared after the game - "We fought so hard off the field to continue to create more space for ourselves to be who we are, but hopefully in turn more space for you guys to be who you are." These two legends will be missed.

The WNBA playoffs are starting to heat up! The New York Liberty and the Connecticut Sun are tied at 1-1 in their best of 5. The Las Vegas Aces are up 2-0 in their series with the Dallas Wings. Full details here. The next two games are on Fri, Sept 29th as the top seeds travel to lower seeds. The Dallas Wings are enter a must-win game to keep their season alive.

On Sun, Sept 24th, Ethiopia’s Tigist Assefa left the previous women's marathon world record in the dust at the Berlin Marathon. She finished in 2:11:53 and shaved more than two minutes off the previous best. This marathon is only Tigist's 3rd marathon - we can't to see what else she accomplishes!
