Thu, April 18 - Women's hoops, Boston Marathon, NWSL season start

All eyes are on women's basketball this week with the exciting WNBA draft happening on Monday (full writeup here) and WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert highlighting the expansion teams that will come by 2026 (up to 14 from 12). Still no word on which cities they would be in. The W begins on Tuesday, May 14th. Get ready!

Kenya’s Hellen Obiri won her second consecutive Boston Marathon on Mon, April 15th. Obiri did so in 2 hours, 2 minutes, and 37 seconds. Winning it once is hard but winning it twice is truly amazing.

NWSL is fully in swing with the Kansas City Current and the NC Courage sitting at #1 and #2, respectively, in the standings. Portland Thorns with a bad start to the season find themselves in the last positions. They just announced they are switching up the coaching staff to hopefully quickly turn things around.
